What happens if an item at the location is damaged?

Sadly, damages do sometimes happen on set. This is why it is important for all hirers to have insurance to protect against anything unexpected. Always request a copy of the hirers PLI before accepting a booking request.

What do I do if a hirer damages an item on location?

  1. It is important to notify the hirer of the damage immediately. Please keep a record of all communication regarding the damage as it may be required for the insurance claim.
  2. Speak to a specialist and request a quote for the repair of the damaged item.
  3. Send the quote for the damage repair to the hirer and liaise directly with them regarding the claim. The hirer should confirm with you whether they will pay for the damage through their insurance or cover the damages themselves.

Currently, we don't have a way for hosts to request damage expenses through the Scouty platform, so the hirer must be invoiced directly.
